How 75-ball bingo works
75-ball bingo is the classic American game. Each player has a 5×5 card with the letters B-I-N-G-O across the top and a FREE space in the middle. Numbers are grouped by column:
| Column | Numbers |
|---|---|
| B | 1 to 15 |
| I | 16 to 30 |
| N | 31 to 45 (with the FREE space) |
| G | 46 to 60 |
| O | 61 to 75 |
The caller announces each ball with its letter, for example "B 7" or "O 64", so players know which column to check.
Popular 75-ball patterns
- Single line: any full row, column or diagonal. The quickest game.
- Four corners: just the four corner squares.
- Letter X: both diagonals, crossing at the free space.
- Picture frame: every square around the edge.
- Blackout (coverall): every square on the card. Usually the big prize.
When you host a live game, you can play several patterns in a row, for example a single line first and then a blackout, and the game checks each claim automatically.
How many calls does a 75-ball game take?
It depends on how many cards are in play. With half a dozen cards, a single line usually takes 20 to 30 calls; with a room full of players it often goes in under 15. A blackout takes much longer, usually 60 or more balls. Use auto-call to keep a steady pace, and slow it down for younger players.
